Thomas David Morrison was an American professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 1996, and held the WBO heavyweight title in 1993. He was ranked as the world's No.10 heavyweight by BoxRec at the conclusion of 1992. He retired from boxing in 1996 when he tested positive for HIV.
The name is from the Scottish Highlands, Mac Gille Mhoire (Scottish Gaelic). The name was a patronymic name meaning "servant of (the Virgin) Mary". It was then Anglicised as Morrison. Other variations are Gilmore, Muirison, MacGillivray.
My surname is Morrison. I’m a girl! And I’ve met so many people with my surname who are not known to be related to me. So I believe my surname should be ranked at a lower rank than #250 if I meet more people. Even more people with the last name Morrison than the last name Hunter or Cunningham. But it would make no sense to see that my surname is a lot more uncommon in the United Kingdom. I think most people with the last name Morrison are from Scotland.
