My name is Ring, an anglicized variation of O'Rinn also. Originating in Cork, I'm from a branch with two families in the Carherciveen/Valentia Island area of Kerry. The only other branch outside of Cork I know of is in Galway/Mayo. There are lots of Rings in Dublin but nearly all are from (or descended from) the Cork, Kerry or Galway/Mayo branches.Famous Rings (or at least well known in Ireland) include Christy Ring (famous Cork hurler) and Michael Ring (politician, TD for the Mayo & later Mayo West constituency).
