My family name 'Steel' (often mistakenly written as Steele) originated in county Northumberland, and came to Australia, from a small village near 'Wallsend' county Northumberland, England. My great-grandfather Arthur Steel emigrated to Platsburg, (now named Wallsend; NSW, Australia), in 1876, for work as a coal miner.
