Colonel Katherine Amelia Towle (1898–1986) was the second director of the United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve (USMCWR) and the first director of Women Marines.
George Makepeace Towle (1841–1893) was an American lawyer, politician, and author, best known for his translations of Jules Verne's works, including, in 1873, Around the World in Eighty Days.
Clifton Cappie Towle (1888–1946) was a founding member of The Anthropological Society of New South Wales in 1928 with William Walford Thorpe. His personal collection of Aboriginal artefacts was donated to the Australian Museum on his death in 1946.
Mary Rutter Towle (1876–1953) was the first women (east of the Mississippi) to be appointed to Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA; in 1921 by U.S. Atty. William Hayward of the Southern District of New York). She graduated Bryn Mawr College and New York University (NYU) School of Law. From 1913 to 1919 she was General Counsel for the National American Woman Suffrage Association.
