Meaning & History
From Russian Фаберже (Faberzhe), which is ultimately of Huguenot French origin, having evolved (since c. 17th century) from Favri; compare Favre. The é was deliberately added to make the name more French-sounding. The Russian jeweller Peter Carl Fabergé (1846-1920), born Карл Густавович Фаберже (Karl Gustavovich Faberzhe), is famed for his Fabergé eggs, originally made for the Russian imperial family.
