There is a commonly used Bulgarian family name Chakarov. There can be no confusion with this name written in Cyrillic. However, problems arise in translating or transliterating that name into English. "Chakarov" is just one of the possibilities. Another one is "Chakurov".

That name has no meaning in Bulgarian. Its origin is "çakýr". The online dictionary http://www.seslisozluk.com gives the meaning "greyish blue" for it in Turkish.
