my mother and father have told me my name is the french form of elizabeth i searched the internet and it says my name is actually german my name is pronounced Liz L

Yes, Liesel is German. I think one of the daughters in Sound of Music was named Liesel. Liesel and Liese are short forms of Elisabeth.

Lisette OTOH sounds French.

The eldest Sound of Music girl was Liesl. The real-life Liesl's name was Agathe.
