*Not up for serious consideration, just putting it up for discussion.
I do like this name...I have only known 2 Molly's in my life and both were beautiful, sweet, lovely, confident ladies. So I have good associations with this name.
But is it dated? An 80's name (along with Jessica, Tiffany, Amanda, Brittany, etc.)? My mother says that it is homely and plain - agree or disagree?
I just find it to be a sweet name. I like Molly Jane or Molly Abigail.
Just interested in knowing your opinion :)

For some reason Molly has never appealed to me. I just can't quite put my finger on why it doesn't. I guess it could be partly because I can only see it as a name for a little girl. Though oddly, I've never known a little girl with this name. The only person I've ever met called Molly is my landlady and she is in her 70s! But I do like the combo Molly Jane.

I personally like the name Molly. I've always considered it a little cutesy sounding, but I like it. My sister-in-law's name is Molly Shawn. I don't really like that combination, but I like her first name. She's 30, and it's a little difficult for me to accept that her name is Molly sometimes. She really doesn't look like a Molly.

I love the name Molly. I too think it's a very sweet name. I don't think it's outdated at all, but I don't think that Jessica and Amanda are either! I like the combo Molly Jane that's very cute. My fave Molly combo has always been Molly Rose. Not that creative I know, but I think it makes a really sweet combo.

My great-aunt Mary Kathleen was known as Molly throughout her life, so I think of her (I never met her because she lived in England, but I heard a lot about her from her sister, my grandmother).
I don't mind it and I certainly don't think it's 80s or dated, but I only like it as a nickname.

I think Molly is a very immature sounding name. I can only see a child with the name - not an adult. I only know one woman named Mollie (with that spelling), and she's in her 80s.
I don't see it as a name from the 1980s - more like the 20s, 30s, 40s. I don't think any name is "plain."
I do like the names Jane and Abigail, and if I had to choose a combo, I'd choose Molly Jane.
