I think it would seem sort of odd on a non-Hispanic child. I know a Fernando whose parents are from Puerto Rican. It's an ok name, not a big favorite. And the nn Fernie comes to mind, which is very unattractive. :b

I have to say, I *do* think of the ABBA song, but I love that song to bits so that's a good thing. I'm not sure it would work on a non-Hispanic/non-Spanish child though.

I think of Hernan Cortes (his real name was Fernan, a short form of Fernando), which is both good and bad but globally I would not name a child after him.

~hums~I actually like it. It's cute, and I think it could potentially work on a non-hispanic child....There was something in the air that night, the stars were bright, Fernando...

I don't care for it, as I just don't like how it sounds. I don't like stereotyping names. And, I'm pro-using names that do not correspond with your ethnicity, so I have no problem with using Fernando on a non-Hispanic child.

I think of someone of Hispanic origin with this name. Also, I think of the (I think) ABBA song of the same name.

I really like Fernando. However, I wouldn't use it on a non-Hispanic child. -Amy-

I don't like it at all, And no I don't think that I would use it on a non-hispanic child. I picture a man such as Fabio, but with darker hair and skin.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
