I must've seen that movie over a 100 times. I know the entire dialogue and music by heart! (and I still don't get tired of it! :p)
Anyway... on to the name
Hallie.
I like it a lot, and I think it's fine as a name on it's own. I don't think it should be a nickname for another name. I'm not sure if it would age well, though, it always sounds a little young to me.
I don't think it sounds too much like
Hailey, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I actually find the
Halle pronunciation a lot more confusing than the
Hallie spelling. I'd be inclined to pronounce
Halle as
HAL.
I don't really like the spellings Halley or Hally,
Hallie is better imo.
Kate or
Elizabeth are both nice mns to go with
Hallie. I'm not really sure what names you like, but here are some that I like:
