Miren and Marit are very nice variations of Miriam and Margaret. I think I'd actually prefer Miren to Miriam, but that may be because I have a bad association with a Miriam. Margaret I think is better than Marit, but I can definitely understand the appeal in Marit especially since it's a family name for you. :)
