[Opinions] Ireleigh
A couple weeks ago I asked for help with possible spellings of the girl's name pronounced eye-er-lee. I had heard a little girl at church say her name (see http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=3127492&board=baby)
Anyway I finally found out what the little girl's name actually is and how it's spelled but it still leaves me puzzled. I talked to the girl's mother yesterday and she spelled the name for me Ireleigh. I asked her where she came up with the name and she said there was a pastor's wife who she greatly respected who's name was Leigh. This Leigh said at the time the mother was pregnant with the little girl that she had always liked the name Ireley but had never used it. She the mother decided that she also really liked the name but she decided to spell it Ireleigh to honor her friend Leigh. That's it, so simple and yet I'm still puzzled. Where Leigh found the name I have no idea. My only guess at a possible meaning is Ire is like Ireland / Erin / Eire and the -ley / -leigh part means lee /meadow. I know that Ireley is a place name and surname in Great Britain. Anyway WDYTO the name Ireleigh / Ireley for a girl and how do you think it goes with her sibling's names? They are in order:
Briana
Keegan
Abram
Levi
Ireleigh
Hosanna (g)I rather like the sound of eye-er-lee but I think I prefer the Ireley spelling to Ireleigh. It's a pretty sounding name but I can't find a spelling I really like that much.

I like the way it sounds and I think it has a sweet meaning but I still don't care much for the spelling. It looks terribly trendy, but it's not too bad.I think it fits with Briana and Keegan, but not the others.

I think Ireleigh is pretty awful with any spelling, but if I had to pick one, I'd choose Ireley. The beginning "ire" makes me think of anger or wrath, so it's an unpleasant name, imo.Ireleigh fits right in with Briana and Keegan, but Levi, Abram, and Hosanna sound like a separate sibset.

DittoI agree with both your points:The "Ire" part of Ireleigh is angrily unflattering.Ireleigh's family sounds like 2 different sibsets!

I think it is very beautiful and unique. I kind of like the Ireleigh spelling better than Ireley, but really both are nice. It is a name that I don't know that I would use, but it really is nice. I'm adding to my list. I don't know that it really "goes" with her siblings names, it seems like her parents got a little braver and went more unique with the younger kids' names, but that's okay.

The sound is pleasant but I do think Ireleigh is appalling trendy. I'd assume it was Ireland blended with Leigh. And Ireley just looks off to me. Wrong or incomplete, or both - I'm not sure. I'd probably choose Ireleigh of the two.I think it goes well with Keegan and Briana, but the others? I wouldn't have put them with Ireleigh at all. It's hard to imagine parents who chose Abram also choosing Ireleigh - even though some of my own favourites are worlds apart.I'm curious to see if I can find I spelling I like better.Eirlee
Eirlie
Eirley
Eirlea
Irelee (This looks like 3 syllables, I think, so no)Hmm. I think Eirley or Eirlie is probably the most sensible looking, but I'm not converted ;-)
