A couple weeks ago I asked for help with possible spellings of the girl's name pronounced eye-er-lee. I had heard a little girl at church say her name (see
http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=3127492&board=baby)
Anyway I finally found out what the little girl's name actually is and how it's spelled but it still leaves me puzzled.
I talked to the girl's mother yesterday and she spelled the name for me Ireleigh. I asked her where she came up with the name and she said there was a pastor's wife who she greatly respected who's name was
Leigh. This
Leigh said at the time the mother was pregnant with the little girl that she had always liked the name Ireley but had never used it. She the mother decided that she also really liked the name but she decided to spell it Ireleigh to honor her friend
Leigh.
That's it, so simple and yet I'm still puzzled. Where
Leigh found the name I have no idea.
My only guess at a possible meaning is Ire is like
Ireland /
Erin / Eire and the -ley / -leigh part means lee /meadow. I know that Ireley is a place name and surname in Great Britain.
Anyway WDYTO the name Ireleigh / Ireley for a girl and how do you think it goes with her sibling's names? They are in order:
BrianaKeeganAbramLeviIreleigh
Hosanna (g)
I rather like the sound of eye-er-lee but I think I prefer the Ireley spelling to Ireleigh. It's a pretty sounding name but I can't find a spelling I really like that much.
