Emeric. I'm more into the weight and dimensions of
German names so I'd prefer
Emmerich, but either way it's quite appealing. I agree with you that it would be great for someone looking for a bit of a "different" name; it has some familiar sounds that people seem to be attracted to but it's something that hasn't been done to death. It's non-threatening as well, I think, without any sharp edges or unflattering elements that would be a huge hurdle for people with less adventurous tastes. But it isn't so mild that it doesn't still have a very handsome sound.
I don't know anything about
Emeric Pressburger but what a fun combinations of names and nationalities--a Hungarian with a
German surname that suggests a Bratislavan.
