I love Esperanza. Nancy is cute and I can see it as a nn for Esperanza. Then again, I can see Boogaboo as a nn for Esperanza too, so I may not have the same disciplined approach to nns that you do.
I just did a google search and Esperance is a town in Australia. But it's not a word in French, unless i'm really, really rusty. The French word for hope is "espoir," not "esperance." (If I'm wrong on that someone please correct me.)
Traditionally, Nancy is a nn for Anne / Nan. Did you consider those options (Anna, Hannah, Nan, Anzia, etc.) Other thoughts: Frances / Francisca, Susanne / Suzanne, Anastasia / Nastya?

Hehe, Boogaboo is cute!
I have considered Anne, Anna, Hannah, and they are family names for me so would probably be a logical choice :P But Esperanza/ Esperance is really tickling my fancy lately. I actually really like all of those suggestions as well.

ETA: It seems that espoir is for the physical and esperance, the metaphysical, according to this particular link: http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=681568
But it's not well-used outside religious contexts, if my French hasn't gotten too rusty. :)

We do tend to say esperance as much as espoir in my area, but we're an odd little corner of the French-speaking world.
