[Opinions] Re: Spelling and Pronunciation Survey

1. KATELYN, Katelynn, Caitlyn, Kaitlyn, Caitlynn, Kaitlynn (I wouldn't actually be likely to use this name 'cause it's overdone and I like Kathleen better anyway)2. Khloe looks like a dumb made up spelling that somebody did to be cute, but the h just doesn't belong after the k in that context and it looks awkward and people would spell it wrong a lot of the time.3. Again, I prefer Miguela- or even Mihaela- and find Michaela way over done the past decade or so... However, for spellings I'd go with MICHAELA, MIKAYLA, MYKAYLA, Micaela, Micayla, Mycaela... and those last ones are really stretching it to get the 5+ you wanted of each. The other spellings out there are kind of dumb.4. HAYLEIGH, HAYLEY, HAILEY, HEILI (just so kanji could go with it 平里), Haley, Haleigh, Haileigh, Haylie, Haylee, Hailee, Halee... Again, overdone in recent years, but not as much as some others.5. ette for sure in most cases... et makes it feel like something's missing... if you're going to go the Fr. direction and use ette, you may as well do it properly. However, in the Violet case, the word itself is simple Violet and adding the extra letters just lookds dumb because they don't belong there. Juliet could go either way, but looks nicer with the double t.6. "line" is a case by case ending that can go one way or another depending on the name and the language of the person using it... Normally, to me, Caroline would be "line", but I met a Karoline from Germany whose pronunciation was "lean"... and that concept applies to those with "ine" names not starting with l as well. for example, Jasmine depends on the individual Jasmine whether it's "in" or "een"7. I only know 1 alternate spelling of Jocelyn and that's Joselyn... I'd still use Jocelyn though 'cause I like it better. Only certain names really work with alternate spellings though. My favourite boy name is Josiah and there's no alternate spelling, but I could just use the Jpns. version of the name and go with Yoshiya. 8. KAYA... 歌矢 MAYA... 真矢9. Which Mae/May/Mei to use would prob'ly depend on what it's being put with... I'd have a leaning towards MEI because I could put kanji with it, but at the same time maybe a leaning towards Mae because it's my grandmother's maiden name... However, I'm not that likely to use it because there are so many other names I prefer.10. Hmmm... I do like Staci better than Stacey...
Traci vs. Tracey...
Heili over the others would simply be for kanji purposes.
Aimee vs. Amy...
Candis is a fun spelling for Candace, but part of that's because I had a friend named Candis.
Chantelle's kind of pretty... not sure which sp. I like best.
I do like Kathryn better than Catherine. (but wouldn't choose the name 'cause it's overused and I like Kathleen better)
Charleen rather than Charlene... 'cause of a friend named Charleen
Krystal or Kristel instead of Crystal is fun... but not on my list of preferred names...
Isabelle seems more complete than Isabel
I like Janine better than Jeannine.
Jordyn's kind of a cute fem. spelling of Jordan... but not on my list of names to choose.
Karyn's my preferred spelling of Karen, but it's not on my list (my best friend already has a Karin)
As a short form of Catherine, Cathie's a nice change from Cathy.
Kyleigh's a nice alternate for Kylie
I definitely like Lori better than Laurie
Lynda vs. Linda
Luci vs. Lucy
Raquelle seems more complete than Raquelle
Rikki vs. Ricki
Ruthanne vs. Ruthann... definitely needs the e
Sara vs. Sarah (but as a whole, the name is way overused)
Stefani's kind of a nice alternate for Stephanie
I like Tami better than Tammy... but would go with Tamara
Tobi vs. Toby
Tori vs. Tory/Torrie
Twyla vx. Twila
Wendi vs. Wendy
