Would like to know what Sarasota means? In Sarasota, Florida. Spanish. Found that in 1700's Spanish already had the name Zara Zote; was retained as Sara Sota. Nickname of Paradise.

George R. Stewart's American Place Names says "uncertain but probably from an Indian original, shaped to a Spanish form."
