So, it turns out that we have a relative in the family named
Irving.
He's deceased, and since we're Jewish, it's customary to honor our relatives after they've passed on. Normally, people do this by using a name that begins with the same letter as the name of someone who has died; i.e., honor a
Sadie with a
Samantha. I've also heard of people using the actual name or a variant of it; i.e., my mom, who is Toba after
Toiba.
1. What are your thoughts on the name
Irving? Irredeemably dated? Old-time classic ready for revival?
2. What about nickname Ving (I much prefer it to Irv)? What would you think if you saw a little kid named
Irving? A teenager? A young adult? A grandfather?
3. Middle name suggestions?
4. Would you use
Irving or another male name beginning with I? Which name(s) do you prefer to
Irving that begin with I?
