I've never met anyone of either sex called Darrell. Like you, I first came across the name in the Malory Towers series so I like it on a girl well enough.
I don't think Tracy is ready for a comeback yet, although the sound itself is pretty. The women named Tracy around here are only in their 30s and 40s. To me, it is 70s where Stacey is 80s. It doesn't help that the only Tracy I knew was an absolute thug - a woman with a Scrunchie, track suit, blackened teeth and a Rottweiler. I kid you not :-/
