A woman at the fiance's work had a baby recently, and they've just announced it as a
Milena Suzette. Firstly, this has made the fiance go 'oooh,
Milena, that's a nice name' and it find its way onto our theoretical-baby-name-list. Unfortunately, me being of mainly Eastern European stock, I say it what I consider the 'correct' way, and he INSISTS on going "Muh-LAAAY-nah". Secondly, WDYT of
Milena Suzette? I find it very weird indeed. Actually, I don't like it all that much at all. A friend of mine, a friend of the fiance's work collegue, which proves that it is a small world after all, says the father's French, and that
Susanna was his offering to the name, but
Milena Susanna didn't work so they compromised. I can see why the repeated -na sounds would....put me off slightly... but I find
Milena Susanna nicer than
Milena Suzette.
Okay, so some Milena-esque questions. What do you think of it? I'm originally Czech, and there's another rarer form of
Milena,
Milana, so
Milena or
Milana? And what do you think of nicknames? I don't really like the nickname
Mila, weirdly enough, and for some reason like
Lena. Hate
Lana.
Just out of curiosity, (not that the fiance and I are planning a family just this minute, far too busy, far too young, far too serious a prospect, and we want to do all the weird 'living' stuff first, it's just that we thought that we'd have a list prepared for when we do have kids, to avoid arguments and even MORE stress when it actually comes round to it) any ideas for nice middle name combos, or even sibsets (m / f / whatever names go well with
Milena)? The fiance also loves
Lorena and I like
Teodor /
Theodore and Matěj (
Matej), which was my grandfather's name, but could probably be bumped back into being a middle name, since I don't like sibsets with matching initials that much.
Thanks for any suggestions! :3
