Sigrid means "victory" + "beauty" (or victorious and beautiful)
Irish names have been very popular for a long time; it is time for Scandinavian names now ;)
I like Sigrid but I prefer the short form Siri. Both R and G are harsh sounds so Sigrid may sound harsh, but I find it rather ethnocentric to call it "horrible".
