Zan is from Wuhan, China and Eleanor is from Oxford, England. Zan is an Engineer and Eleanor is a Botanist. They met at dinner with mutual friends while she was visiting China for work, studying Chinese plants and trees. She learned Mandarin in college and he knew some English, so the two of them were able to communicate easily. They spent a lot of time together and eventually started dating. Zan would travel to England and Eleanor would travel to China so they could see each other and after dating for 2 years, Zan proposed. They had two weddings, one with her family in England and one with his in China. It was hard for Eleanor to leave home, but she loves China and its culture, so she agreed.
