[Opinions] Re: Agnes
in reply to a message by guru
I think Agnes is a fabulous name! It's the epitome of handsome: it's so elegant and distinguished. Aggie's alright...it's a cute pet name, but I could never saddle it onto a child for full time use. Nessa or Nessie could work as well. I can't really see it rising in popularity, except among cutting edge hipster types (think Michelle Williams and Matilda, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ramona). I definitely cannot see the country being deluged with hundreds of little Agneses. Yet it does work on a young girl because it's so novel to see it used on someone so youthful. It's like the first time I met an adorable little Alice: part of her appeal was the fact that she had this grown-up person name on her which only enhanced her precociousness. As for middle names, my favourite combo when I was planning to use Agnes was Agnes Elizabeth Jane. As for other suggestions, I would include: Agnes Penelope
Agnes Lucille
Agnes Camilla
Agnes Evangeline
Agnes Matilda
Agnes Miriam
Agnes Isabel
Agnes Catherine
Agnes Ottilie
Agnes Clementine
Agnes Victoria
Agnes Petunia
Agnes Persephone
Agnes Caroline
Agnes Eleanor / Elinor
Agnes Beatrice
Agnes Laurel
Agnes Geraldine
Agnes Josephine
Agnes Mireille
Agnes Heloise
Agnes Rosamund
Agnes Susannah
