I'm pretty sure that most of the Amandas I've met have gone by their full names, so I don't think that an
Amanda is necessarily fated to being called
Mandy.
Off of the top of my head, I can think of two people I've actually known named
Amanda. I'm sure I've met more than that, though. I know I've run into plenty of Amandas at store checkouts, restaurants, etc.
As far as combos go, I'd avoid something like
Amanda Lynn or
Amanda Nicole, which scream 80's to me.
Amanda Lynn also sounds like "a mandolin", which is another reason to avoid that one.
Amanda doesn't seem quite ready for revival just yet, but it's still more refreshing than, say,
Ashley, which has been way too popular for years. I dislike the "man" part of
Amanda, but the name is decent, and it has a nice meaning. I still prefer
Miranda, though.

Renee more appealing than
Nicole and
Lynn even though
Renee used to be a fillerish middle name.
