I think in part it is a reaction against popularity, also what Llewella said...in a community about the etymology and history of names a name like Kaylee with a short history and unclear etymology is seen as having less significance. They also tend to sound dated more than classic names. Maybe in another 50 years people will start to appreciate them!
I'm 17. But my taste has not changed very much, maybe just got a little more diverse when I discover new names. I still love my favourites from years ago, Safiya and Valentina.
