On Eastern European names: my whole family is Russian Jewish, and I speak Russian, so Russian names don't feel out of the box for me, really. I agree with you that it seems awkward on a girl without those roots.
I can definitely get on board with you;
Alice Cooper was ruining the name for me for a while. I just keep going back and forth. I think by the time I'm having kids (six, seven years from now), it won't be as much of a deal. I see colors with some names, not all (I do have synesthesia, but it's more related to numbers than words), but
Alice is light blue, white, black, and gold for me. I like that.
