Help[Opinions] Fantasma
I was watching Game of Thrones with Portuguese subtitles when I first thought how beautiful this would be as a name, therefore I know that it means 'ghost'. I think it sounds lovely for a girl. Perhaps irl it would suit the mn spot better?

I don't think it's usable. All I can think of when I see it is the scene in Lucia di Lammermoor where Lucia is hallucinating and she says "Il fantasma... il fantasma... ne se para" or something like that. It's really creepy. But I don't think a lot of people would think of that, I only do because I'm in an opera scenes group and we're doing that scene and I'm Lucia.

Awesome middle name for sure. I'd probably keep it as a MN though, not just because it means ghost (which is neat, imo) but mainly because she'd probably end up being called Fanny (which isn't as inappropriate in the US as it is in other places, but it's still not a cute nickname to me)

I know people get cranky about the "teasing" argument against names, but... I wouldn't use a name with -asm- in it; Fantasma would get called Orgasma, for sure.

Agreed. Also the "fant" part as in "fantasy" has rather sexual undertones too.

I think most teenagers are familiar with the term and I can also imagine plenty of adults in a workplace sniggering over the name Fantasma.

They might well know that it's something "dirty" or "rude" that grownups don't like them to say out loud. What a temptation!

Most, I should think... don't forget that it can be older teens who are the most vicious and damaging bullies.
