Ruby also the name of a minor, one episode character in Firefly, a little girl gone mute in a village of Christian "hillfolk". Not why I like the name, but that's one of my geeky associations. ;)
I would definitely talk to my SIL if there ever were a chance for me to use it. As it is, it's third or fourth in line for me, at best. I just wanted to get some feedback before I got too attached to the idea.
Ruby Catherine is nice! Catherine is a family name for me.
