Hi guys!
Here's the first round of the Congrats. I am still accepting sign-ups, just stick 'sign up' in the subject line of your reply and the completed form from the sign-up post in the body of your message.
Some of you have single kids, some have twins, some have pets... basically, it's a mix of stuff. I've also tried to create a mix of namebanks (15 names each) and rules for this round.
If you want to write a little bit about the family, feel free - but you don't have to if you don't want to!

EDIT: Also, for future rounds, could you let me know if you want your children to have more than one middle name, a mix of number of middle names or whatever? If you just want one middle name, no need to answer this question.

He’s very bright and has skipped ahead several years in school and has dreams of becoming a doctor. He gets on really well with his new dads.
His first name is a name used in a Shakespearian play which is also used in real life and begins in a vowel. His middle name comes from the following namebank:

She comes from a French-Canadian background but is about ¼ Haida and speaks both French and English fluently, with a slight preference towards French. She’s been in care since she was 7 and is quite rebellious and wayward, but she’s taken a liking to her adoptive parents and wants to impress them.
Her first name is French and neither super rare or super uncommon. Her middle name isn’t necessarily French (it can be if you want) and begins with X, V or Y. She’s started taking an interest in sci-fi and picked up a nickname after a character in a sci-fi film or tv show – it could be one that suits her name or her personality.

Logan and Rowena have adopted a baby boy. He’s only a few months old and comes from San Francisco. He’s of mixed African American and Hispanic origin but not much else is known about his background. Because of that and because he’s so young, Logan and Rowena have free run with naming him.
They’ve decided to give him a very unusual biblical first name, and his middle name should come from the famous book one of them was reading when they found out the adoption went through (the book should be well known, but it’s ultimately your choice which one it is).
They’ve also adopted a young dog. He’s a golden retriever cross and is very friendly if a little bit dumb. They’ve named him after a comic-book superhero.

Émilien and Althea have adopted a little boy from Russia. He’s nearly three years old and was born in Ufa in the federal republic of Bashkortostan. He is partially deaf, and it’s still to be decided whether cochlear implants are advisable – but he otherwise seems to be a bright, happy young boy. He doesn’t speak any French, but being so young he’s picking it up quickly.
His birth name was a very common Russian given name. The du Ponts have kept it as a middle name, and given him a new first name which is an uncommon French version of an Ancient Greek name (http://www.behindthename.com/submit/names/usage/french has lots of choices). If he has two middle names, one is his birth name, the other is a long-established French name which doesn’t feature on the top 500 lists and doesn’t begin with a vowel.

Since the orphanage the girls were adopted from works closely with a British charity, the girls already speak some English, although it isn’t perfect. The eldest daughter is called Hua-Lan and the younger twin is called Mei-Lan, but Seth and Lucy have already decided to change the girls’ names – they are too difficult for English people to say right, themselves included. The girls, however, have been allowed to have a say in what they want their new English names to be.
Hua means ‘flower’ and ‘Lan’ means ‘orchid’, so Hua-Lan wants her new name to be a flower name.
Mei-Lan, however, wants her new name to begin with M, include the letter ‘l’, and doesn’t care about the meaning.
Their middle names should be Welsh and have a themed or similar meaning to each other.

Because she has some minor motor problems, she has taken a while to be adopted – however, the McCarthys have been told that her problems can be easily treated with time and patience.
They’ve decided to give her an anglicised Irish first name. While not as pretty as the original names, anglicisation will ensure that people can pronounce it. Her middle name is a traditional, feminine name which is at least seven letters long.

Her first name is a medium-length Arabic name which would sound pretty yet exotic to Anglophone ears. It’s not a name you’d hear often outside of Arabic speaking communities, and hasn’t yet moved out of being very ethnically distinct. She doesn’t have a middle name so they’re picking one for her – she’d like it to have a happy, positive meaning whilst Sigrún and Amin would like it to be androgynous and unisex.

Their new parents have decided to keep their adopted children’s first names, which are both Czech and begin with the same letter. They have no middle names, so their new parents have decided to give them one – they picked out a Russian MN for DS, and Silvio suggested a Romanian MN for DD.

DD has been in the system since she was 11, when her parents divorced and her mother became unable to provide a stable home. She’s had a tough life and is a bit rough around the edges, but she really wants to make a good life for herself and her unborn child. Although she used to be pretty wild, her new responsibilities have calmed her down and she has started to bond quite strongly with her adoptive parents.
Her first name is a classic French name which is quite common and her middle name is a modern name which has only started to be used frequently in the last decade.
She’s decided on her son’s middle name but wants Dorian and Cosette to have the honour of picking his first name. Lucas and Isabelle have adopted their first child – a baby boy from Srinagar in India. He’s a very quiet baby, so they were worried he might be unwell, but as it turns out he’s perfectly healthy just not the kind to make a fuss. His birth name is simple, easy to say and sounds cool to Anglophone ears, so they’ve either kept it as his first name or made it his middle name.

Sigrún and Amin have adopted their first child, a ten year old girl from Saudi Arabia. She comes from Khamis Mushait, is muslim, and speaks some very basic English. Her parents are teaching her English but it’s certainly more helpful at this point that they speak Arabic.
Her first name is a medium-length Arabic name which would sound pretty yet exotic to Anglophone ears. It’s not a name you’d hear often outside of Arabic speaking communities, and hasn’t yet moved out of being very ethnically distinct. She doesn’t have a middle name so they’re picking one for her – she’d like it to have a happy, positive meaning whilst Sigrún and Amin would like it to be androgynous and unisex.

Feodosia, Zhenya and Silvio have adopted twins! The five year old boy and girl come from České Budějovice in the Czech Republic and were orphaned several years ago with no living relatives. The boy has some mild learning problems and they both obviously miss their parents a great deal. Hopefully their new family can help.
Their new parents have decided to keep their adopted children’s first names, which are both Czech and begin with the same letter. They have no middle names, so their new parents have decided to give them one – they picked out a Russian MN for DS, and Silvio suggested a Romanian MN for DD.

James and Annika’s new arrival is a baby boy from Estonia. Their new son is 7 months old and ethnically Russian/Estonian. They don’t like his birth name at all, so have decided to change it. Names they are considering for his first name are in the namebank below. For his middle name they’ve decided to honour his heritage and Annika’s literary backgound by naming him after a famous Estonian or Russian author or poet. Of course, they’re also considering the fact that they want his name to work in the US as well.
They’ve also adopted a kitten that their son can grow up with. Their kitten is a plain old moggy, a ginger boy. He is named either after an iconic, famous author or a very famous, iconic literary character.

Dorian and Cosette were planning to adopt, but didn’t expect two at once. Their new daughter is pregnant! Of course, they knew this when they adopted her, and her difficult situation may have been part of the reason they accepted her into their home. DD has been in the system since she was 11, when her parents divorced and her mother became unable to provide a stable home. She’s had a tough life and is a bit rough around the edges, but she really wants to make a good life for herself and her unborn child. Although she used to be pretty wild, her new responsibilities have calmed her down and she has started to bond quite strongly with her adoptive parents.
Her first name is a classic French name which is quite common and her middle name is a modern name which has only started to be used frequently in the last decade.
She’s decided on her son’s middle name but wants Dorian and Cosette to have the honour of picking his first name.
