It is different and I think it's cute. I first heard it used on a TV show character who was intelligent and witty and I liked it immediately.
Didn't realize until later that it's also one of those so-called "tacky" names along the same vein as
Tammy,
Bobbie, etc. But a person makes the name, a name doesn't make the person - so I see the appeal of
Tawny.
