[Opinions] Garfield
Garfield has sort of become a GP of mine recently. I like it as a MN.
Wdyt of it?

It reminds me of the comic strip cat and the American president.

I agree the "garf" sound by itself is unattractive...but I think that sound's probably part of why I'm fond of the name, as well...
I realized yesterday after posting this, (considering the combo that initially got me thinking about it was Solomon Garfield), that somewhere in the back of my mind, Garfield vaguely reminds me of Garfunkel (as in Simon & Garfunkel).

I LOVE Simon and Garfunkel!
Like the Great Original, I never met a lasagne I didn't like ...
However, unless one is plump, cynical and with orange fur, I don't think it's a good name. Too much baggage.

Reminds me to much of a orange cat and a president who was assasinated.
Keep it as a GP. The cat association is too strong.
I'd only use it for a middle name if it was a family name, and even then I doubt it.
Garfield the cat is one of my favorite characters. I love his half-closed eyes and his lazy, wised-up voice.

Well, even without the cat association, I don't think it has an attractive sound, but I think almost anything goes as a middle name.
Garfield the cat, period.
Even without the pop culture and political references, I don’t think I’d like it. It’s too surnamey and has a harsh sound.
And taking them into account, I defy you to find somebody who doesn’t think of a surly orange cat.

I like it as a middle name, too. Not sure how much of a namesake James Garfield would be, but I do know he was a highly intelligent man. So, there's that.
And, of course, there is Garfield the cat. I don't know how much kids these days like Garfield, though, so it might not be a big deal, to them. I agree, it is a fun GP. I approve, why not?

if I recall ...
The cat was named after the cartoonist's grandfather, who was named after James Garfield.

I watched a documentary on James A. Garfield. He was committed to continuing to help the former slaves in the South achieve full citizenship status, but of course, this never happened due to his assassination just a few months after being elected. He certainly seemed very admirable.
Yes, he had an affair as a married man, but his wife forgave him.
And when he was young, he was hot.

Lincoln was certainly not considered attractive during his lifetime, but I think he had the sort of looks that appeal to a subset of women.
Obama is extremely attractive. I once had a naughty dream about him.

Yep. Yowza. I was born too late.
Young Rutherford B. Hayes was hot, too...
I think I posted a thread about handsome former presidents, but I can't quite remember.

Oops. I posted a picture of Hayes before I realized that you had already done so. Oh well, he has a face worth looking at twice.
Sure did. ;)
Yeah, you did, I remember. It was fun.
It's hard for me to judge it. It's my cat's name.
