Like Manipura, I used to dislike Florian too - it kinda just felt like a dandyish "pretty boy" type name. But now I’ve warmed up to it, and turns out I really have a thing for "pretty boy" names - though as of now Florian is the main one. Can anyone suggest any more?
Ned makes for a nice nickname for Edwin. It does sound pretty friendly, like you said.
