Help[Opinions] Bramwell & Branwell
What do you think of these? Which would you use if you had to pick one?
What do you think of names ending in "well" in general? Do they sound dated or too surnamey?
Bramwell - brom meaning "broom" or "gorse" and well(a) meaning "spring" or "stream".
Branwell - BtN says it's a variant of Bramwell, but I'm curious if it could mean a spring or stream with ravens? Or am I being a dumb American thinking that Welsh and English roots would mix?
I really like the nickname Bran and I think the Bronte connection is cool, but I wouldn't be excited about using Brandon or Brannon (and Bran by itself just makes people think of muffins and cereal). But with Branwell, if it is just a variant of Bramwell, I'd be way too tempted to put fake etymology on it to get the raven reference.
