Help[Opinions] Jezzika
I already know what the general consensus on this would be but I'm going to ask anyway.
I knew a girl with this name once. She was in my year group (born between 93 - 95).
Nice girl for the most part.
Tall, long brown hair, olive skin (she was white but her family was on the richer side so they went on holiday a lot resulting in a permanent tan) and brown eyes.
Obsessed with handbag size (apparently bigger was better and she could have carted around a small elephant in them).
Was critical of music she deemed "old".
Irresponsible with phones because her parents could afford it.
Soft as all hell - that girl could be beaten up by a fly.
Probably bisexual. She had an interest in images of scantly-clad women, and collected them on her phone.
Didn't like fighting or negative environments.
The most naïve person I've ever known - the most at risk person of being scammed by a poorly-spelled email and a link to "Facebook" asking for her login details.
What do you think of her name and do you think it suits her character? If not, how would you rename her?

I'm tempted to pronounce it jeh-ZEE-kuh, which would be kind of neat and seems more like the French or German pronunciations (could be what her parents were going for?).
I don't get a mean girl vibe from Jessica as other people sometimes say they do; Jessie or Jesse has always seemed friendly/unassuming to me for either gender.
Where I grew up she could be a Janelle, Paige, Ivy, Jenna, Angel, Kelsie, Kimmy, Crystal, Gina, Lilah...Jezzika is fine, though.

Jezzica souns like what an airhead named Jessica would rename herself trying to be different. So I guess it fits her, but it sounds phony.

Unsurprisingly, my reaction is "wow, that's bad". Somehow, Melissa comes to mind, but she'd hate her full name and would refuse to answer to anything but Mel.

Oh, Melissa is a good name - I can see her wearing that. She would go by Mel, but she's not stubborn enough to not respond. She's the type to respond to anything tbh She's the opposite of stubborn really, "easily manipulated" one can say. Not to say she's unintelligent, but my naïve description is no lie.
I'd honestly say she'd make a fantastic mother, but bless her if she has unruly children. I also think she'd make the best grandma

I met a girl recently who reminds me of this description, and her name was Arabella. So maybe I'd name her that.
Honestly though, Jezzika doesn't seem to fit her because I think of Jessica as a smart, cunning sort of name. A bit cruel, even. It's a very "hard" sort of name, a glamorous power name. And Jezzika has that kind of "boss" energy in spades, with those zeds and k's. So the idea of a sweetly naïve, airheaded little princess named Jezzika doesn't track for me. I'd maybe call her Emmilee or Bryttani or even Chelcie or something. But not Jezzika.

Really? Perhaps its because I knew her for most of my life that I don't associate the name with "boss energy" of any sort.
Cruel... maybe in terms of being an average judgemental teen, but I don't think she's "cruel" exactly. She wasn't the only one who made fun of my music taste and she was what? 13? We were close until we left school and then we naturally drifted apart. She's the only member of my "close friend group" who never did anything malicious. I sometimes wonder how she's doing, but I've no contact for her anymore

Edit: I do remember once that when she asked what I was listening to, I let her listen and she said "Finally! Something modern!" I was listening to one of the songs from the 1999 Pokemon soundtrack. It was 2009.

I prefer Jessica. I'm not the biggest fan of Jezzika. I really want to stress the z and say "Jezzzz-ih-kuh". You know? Like how people say a bee sounds? "Zzzzzzzzzzz" "Buzzzzzzz".
I can picture a Jezzika like that, but I would have to know her to rename her.

You're rather right actually, we did stress the z when saying her full name. Mostly she went by "Jess", but she had a period of writing her name as "Jezzy". I'm not sure how long "Jezzy" lasted for as she didn't do it in primary school (there she used her full name) and by year 9(? high school - age 13/14), she was just "Jess".

I feel like this whole thing from top to bottom is set up to judge this girl as trashy or valley-girl-esque or whatever, and it's honestly kind of weird and uncomfortable. I don't know this girl and I'm not going to judge her. The name is a typical case of both wanting to use a popular name and wanting to give a child a unique name and thinking a weird spelling somehow evens this out. But it's hardly egregious or anything. I'd have told her parents to pick either naming her Jessica or giving her a unique name and then named her Jessica or Jacinth accordingly.

Also Valley Girl never came (or would ever come) to mind - I'm Northern British and so is she. She's certainly not a "valley-girl" as I understand the stereotype.
