Liam is born! He looks more like his father, and is the first child of both his parents.

Liam was diagnosed as Deaf this year. He has no Deaf family members, but his parents are working hard to learn ASL and to teach it to Liam.

This year, the family went on vacation to an island just off the coast of South Carolina, where they rented a beach house for a few weeks. Both boys loved the water, though Liam really took to it, and asked his Daddy in ASL to teach him to swim!

Sadly, Celeste and Harlow were having issues and split up recently. They share custody of Liam and Chris, and are clear that the boys shouldn’t hate either parent. Liam’s a little scared, though, and misses whichever parent he’s not with all the time.

Liam got another younger brother this year - his mom Celeste and her new boyfriend Mortimer had a baby boy named Mo just two months ago. Liam loves his new baby brother, and loves trying to teach him sign language, though feels weird about it, considering the divorce.

Liam got an absolutely terrible haircut this year. He likes his hair to be a little long, but this stylist didn’t listen to him and gave him super short hair that he hates! He has to wait FOREVER for it to grow back out, and he wears hats to cover it when he can. This year, Chris joined Liam at school, and Liam tried his best to be best big brother he could.

This year, Harlow moved to Chicago instead of the Virginia town Liam’s always lived in. Now, he and Chris spend half the year in Chicago, which is kind of scary and feels way too big for Liam. Not to mention he and Chris were the new kids at school, which is always scary.

Liam decided to try an after-school sport this year! After trying them all, he decided to try swimming. He can do it without needing to hear anyone, so it doesn’t matter that he’s Deaf, and he really likes to swim. He’s not the best at it yet, but he has fun!

Liam hit the double digits this year! Unfortunately, this year Mo was diagnosed with Leukemia. His mom and dad are doing their best to get him the treatment he needs, but this means that Celeste can’t give as much attention to Liam and Chris. Liam’s old enough to know what Leukemia means, and it scares him. He just wants his little brother to be all right.

Liam’s been quiet over the last few years, and this year was diagnosed with selective mutism. Luckily, he already knows ASL, so he is able to communicate with people who also understand it. His parents have decided that he’ll stay most of the year with Harlow in Chicago, where he can attend a special school for the Deaf in order to get a good education that works with his disabilities. Liam was nervous about switching schools at first, but he honestly really likes it there. Mo also started school this year, though he attends online school due to his illness.

This year, one of Liam’s teachers was the absolute WORST. She was a new teacher this year, and is an older woman who seems to think that Deaf kids should all be forced to get hearing aids and speak out loud. This means that she doesn’t like Liam, who doesn’t have hearing aids and doesn’t talk. After Liam complained to Harlow, though, he raised a stink with the school, which eventually led to her being fired. Mo’s been doing better this year, and Chris turned ten!
