[Opinions] Nickname for Werburgh?
The church where I sing in the choir is dedicated to St Werburgh (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werburgh). Today between songs I was thinking about how Werburgh would make a great quirky character name.I’ve only got the loosest sense of the character (pre-teen girl) and a hundred-year span in which her story might land (1850-1950) but I do know she needs a nickname. What nickname would you use?

Vera!Going by Vereburga. I like Mary’s suggestion of Vega too. Maybe Berry but that feels anachronistic. Bert(ie) as an embellished form of Burgh.

The typical NN for ~burg/burgh names is Burgel or Burgl, pronunciation Boor-gelle.(~ with Margarethe/Margret->Gretel/Gretl and GP Gretchen)A really unique one, I've also heard of the FN Wernburg.
Furthermore of Werburg Doerr/German writer & Gerburg Jahnke/German actress & cabaret artist

Hah, yes... the fact that it's a ridiculous name would be part of the story!I really like Birdie, far above all of the other suggestions.

Wow! What a name!
Maybe Wega or Vega, (inspired by Werburga and Vereburga)
