Marissa, I'd rather meet a
Melissa.
If I had to name a baby ... if the "datedness" factor was equal between them,
Melissa. Since it's not equal, probably
Marissa.
In general I prefer
Melissa. It is much prettier sounding and less synthetic and just a better name. But it matters that it has been overused, if I'm naming a baby. It's got more of an image stuck to it and I don't like that.
Also, I have hated a
Marissa. I could get over that because I like the name - it just comes to mind when I look at the name by itself, unattached to anyone. I've never hated a
Melissa.
