I'm not sure that it's usable today - it's dated, honestly - but I've always thought it was rather pretty. Cheryl and Wendy are the two names that scream a specific time period to me (at least where I've lived) that I've always thought would be lovely to see return to popularity. I definitely prefer it to Sherry / Cherie / any other variant of that name. I've known a few people named Cherilyn / Cherylynne and I thought that overdid the name a bit.
Riverdale is a pretty niche interest TV show, but I've been a bit surprised we haven't seen a rise in popularity considering the centrality of Cheryl Blossom to that show. (Love her or hate her, but especially in the early seasons she had the best one-liners on that show.)

It's pretty but it's sounds similar to Cyril for me.
I love it!
I'm totally not biased in any way since my name is Cheryl and all...haha....hahahahahah....

It's extremely dated and not at all appealing. About the only positives I can throw it, is that it looks better than Sheryl and that it's certainly a step-up from Beryl.
The only Cheryl I know, at least at the moment, is my sister's M-I-L, which isn't the best association, although of course more so for my sister. (I know, cue the sterotype there. Lol)
It wouldn't exactly bother me to come across another one (Sheryl including), I would just think of I don't much for the name itself, and how dated it is.

It's certainly a curiosity. I prefer it to Cheri / Sherry / Sherri (etc.) because the "yl" ending evokes the lovely Beryl.

Very dated; not a bad name at all. I wouldn't mind seeing more Cheryl people roaming the streets.
I met a Cheryl once, born in the 1950s I think, who pronounced it like the Ch in Charles, not the ch in cherie. I prefer the Sheryl sound.

I like it in general because I grew up liking people named it and think it sounds sweet (because of Cherie possibly), although it seems about as weird for a baby as Darlene, Candy, Meryl, Carol would (they do all still get used occasionally), and the spelling reminds me a little of a chemical or medicine like glyceryl, benadryl, etc.
I'd rather use Shirin / Shireen, Candace, Mariel, Cara, Caroline from that name group.

I like it. It's down-to-earth and familiar. Sherry is annoying to me.
Well she was def born in the fifties or sixties ...
But I do like the name itself, alright.
I didn't like it when I was little ... it had a Brittany, Taylor, Ashley type feeling for me, due (I think) to belonging to Cheryl Tiegs, whose face seemed to be all over the place when I was a child, and also reminding me of icky old Cher whose name still annoys me. Then as I grew up I met a lot more Cheryls and it came down to earth and I started liking it. I feel like its rep is higher than Sherry and I don't understand why that would be. Cheryl : Sherry :: Everly : Avery, imv, roughly
I also like Cherylin / Cherilyn okay. Oddly, I might like it a bit more than Cheryl. But I like Sherry over either. No "Cher" in it is still a good thing

The "ryl" sounds unpleasant to me. But overall it's ok.
It's ok, but very 60s
It still feels very dated, but I like the look and the sound of it.
I like it better than Sharon, but not as much as Sherry/Shari. I feel like the yl ending is not very attractive, but an il ending in this case is even less so.
The 70s/80s vibe is intense.
