[Opinions] Help me to like Nadia.
Nadia is a name I never warmed up to previously. This might be because it reminded me of the Spanish word nada, "nothing," which isn't the greatest sentiment for a name. :-P (Although I know it's Slavic and Arabic roots are very different.)Nadine, on the other hand, is a name I used to adore. I sort of held this adoration private, though, as I seemed to be the only person I knew who was fond of Nadine and didn't think it was an "old lady" name. I mainly had it in combos as a middle name in posts on here. However, a high school friend ended up naming her daughter Nadine recently, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was glad to see a little Nadine! But this also makes it a bit weird for me to use the name. (Same thing happened with Naomi, Ruby, and Vivienne.)So, Nadine is off the table. And on another note, Lydia is a name that has hung out on my PNL forever, and occasionally entered my Top 10 (as a first or middle). I think in considering Lydia, I started thinking about Nadia, a name I'd previously only written off.People who like Nadia: what do you enjoy about the name? Do you think a little Nadia would fare well today?***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381

I think it’s actually quite elegant, it makes me think of a refined, mature lady, and the sound rolls off the tongue well. I can’t say much else but that I quite like it XD I like it a bit better than Lydia because tha [ah] sound is a little stronger than the [ih] sound, just for me anyhow

I think Nadia is very pretty and airy. It reminds me of ballet.Have you considered Justine in lieu of Nadine? It feels similar to me.

I like Nadia and Nadine. Nadia short and crisp, spunky, pretty and would go well today

I love the name Nadia because it’s strong and elegant, but not frilly. It reminds me of Naomi, a favourite of mine, and it means hope.
