[Opinions] Re: Jiblet
I think Jiblet is one of those nicknames that "works" no matter what the real name is. It's such a silly family pet name that it doesn't need any support or explanation, like when my friend calls her son Asher "Ham" or "Hammy". It's a private joke. So I'd tell her that. I can't think of any names that would sort of connect to Jiblet... Maybe Juliet?? Virginia "Ginny"?? Um.... Jebediah? Jiblet is a cute word but I don't know how I'd like it as a family nickname. My grandpa used to call me "Muskrat" and I hated it, I felt he was making fun of me. But maybe if a family is actually loving, a kid wouldn't mind a strange nickname relating to chicken guts. I love that story about calling Miriam Poppy before she was born! No kids here, but I remember my aunt called my cousin "The Alien" when she was pregnant with her - because the ultrasound pics reminded her of the Alien movie creature.

My husband called M Skeletor once we had the first ultrasound. My family nicknames are definitely on the odd side. Toad/Toady (from wind of willows, My mom thought I was a lot like the character Toad), Fave (because I was a character and there was no one quite like me), and Salad (My cousin used to tease me by chanting things like Haven window, Haven Christmas tree, etc. My brother's overheard it and started calling me salad.)I don't mind any of the nicknames, and they make me feel loved. Fun fact: We call Miriam Miss Mae, and have done so since she was very young. She likes it but forbids anyone but Xander and me to use it.
Why did your brothers call you Salad?I'm probably dumb, but I'm not making the connection.
My cousin used to tese me non-stop by swinging/chanting Haven "insert random object in view. He used Salad once and my brothers found it hilarious. My nickname could just as easily been window, car, tire, etc. They thought salad was the funniest.
Oh, I see. Thanks for the explanation.
Miss Mae is cute. How did that originate?
Spontaneously.Honestly, it's a combination of things. I tend to put Miss in front of names, Mae is one of her middle names (after her great grandmother) and my daughter is very similar to her namesake. It just fit.
Perfect! I thought Mae was random.
