[Opinions] Re: Humble My Name Choices
in reply to a message by gqhstlyboy
Taraja Circe - I've never heard Taraja but it sort of reminds me of Tarja Turunen. I like Circe and it looks good in this combo. I'd also like Tarja Circe.
Amaryllis Ingrid - I like Amaryllis, but don't think Ingrid goes with it.
Circe Leibel - Leibel is too much like the word label. I'd replace it with something like: Leilani, Lorelei, Leila, Leia, Lyra, Leida, Ligeia
Madeira Ouida - Madeira is a pretty good place name actually, it sounds more namey than a lot of place names that get used as first names and it has a lot of nickname options like Maddy, Mira, Deira, Dede, etc. Ouida looks a lot better than it sounds. Ourania, Oona, Olympe?
Elodie Fayette - Not my style but it's fine, very French or wannabe-French
Alynah Grace - Okay but Alynah is an awkward spelling. Nobody would know to use a y and a silent h. Alina Grace is a lot better. Maybe Alynna or Alinna if you meant the y to be pronounced like "ih", but I'd still prefer Alina.
Elodie Briar - I love Briar but it doesn't go with Elodie. Elowen Briar, Enya Briar, Elana Briar, Elaina Briar, Elaine Briar, Anya Briar, Anwen Briar?
Ahava Kiera - I like this one as is. I'd assume the person was Jewish
Avaline Christine - Don't have two -ine names together, switch them up with other names. Avaline Cassiopeia, Christine Elodie, Elodie Christine, Circe Avaline, Avaline Circe, Christine Rose, etc. Also, Avaline looks good but I can't tell if I'm supposed to say AY-va-leen or AH-va-leen. Or AV-a-leen like the av in avalanche.
Christi Vivette - Change it to Christine Vivette or Christa Vivette. Christi instead of Christy is too 80's anyway, and I don't like obvious nicknames as full names unless they feel like full names already.
Ysadora Emmalyne - Too many Y's, change to Ysadora Emmaline or Ysadora Emmeline. (I do like Ysadora, and also Isadora).
Giselle Jillian - This is just silly, they both start with the same sound and have that double L "ill/ell" sound, but despite sounding the same they also clash in style. Giselle Vivian?
Leighanne Maura - Leighanne is also ridiculous. Try Leanne Maura, Lianne Maura, or Liane Maura.
Austria Yvette - It looks and sounds good but I don't think Austria works as a first name. Try Audra Yvette or Aurora Yvette?
Angie Mae - Angie is too nicknamey and too dated. Mae is alright, although I prefer May. The closest I can get to this with something I like is maybe Angel Maya? Angeline May?
Margaux Rue - I like this one. Although the combination of -aux and Rue reminds me of the word roux. That makes me prefer Margot Rue or Margo Rue, but I don't have anything against Margaux itself. I'd like it with one of the French names like Elodie, Giselle, etc.
Sappho Rose - I like it, although it would be a bold move to use Sappho as a first name.
Gilda Ilo - Eh, don't like it. Gilda sounds like an old grandma and Ilo seems too short here. Ilo reminds me of Ilona which I prefer.
Lenora Vivian - I like this one just how it is.
Matija Helene - Same here; I personally prefer Mattea but Matija is good too.
Eileen Cassiopia - I would change Cassiopia to Cassiopeia to match how the constellation is spelled. And I don't think it goes with Eileen. Try: Eileen Yvette, Eileen Gilda, Eileen Rose, Cassiopeia Rose, Sappho Cassiopeia, Taraja Cassiopeia, Alina Cassiopeia, Elodie Cassiopeia?
Rowan Beau - I don't like the double "oh" sound, and Beau reads masculine. I prefer Rowan Micha.
Finnley Micha - I like Micha, or Mica maybe. Finnley is a little awkward, I'd change it to Finley. Maybe Finley Michal would be more complete? I've only ever met two people named Michal, one girl and one boy.
Kit Bly - Too short. Rowan Bly is good. Kit needs something longer for a middle name but I'm not sure what. Tierney? Jordan? Hayden? Harley?
Irwin Aarti - I've never seen Aarti, when I looked it up I found a girl name. Irwin seems like it would go with something more like Arthur. Arthur Irwin, Irwin Arthur, Irwin Arlo, Ansel Irwin? I like the Steve Irwin reference but it's not a very attractive first name. I think I'd go with Ansel Irwin if I had to use Irwin.
Curtis Bodhi - I like the middle name Bodhi but Curtis is bleah. Conor Bodhi, Cyrus Bodhi, Cameron Bodhi, Corwin Bodhi
Liam Jewiir - Never heard of Jewiir and don't really like it. Liam Jorah, Liam Johari, Liam Jonah, Liam Julio?
Sawyer Levi - It's fine but not my style
Rohan Dexter - Love Rohan, but Dexter doesn't match at all. Rohan David, Rohan Daniel, Rohan Dafydd, Rohan Daedalus, Rohan Damir, Rohan Damocles, Rohan Desimir, Rohan Damodar, Rohan Dermot, Rohan Desmond, Rohan Demetrius, Rohan Davos, Rohan Drummond, Rohan Dmitriy
Sal Leon - Too short, Sal doesn't work as a full name. Silas Leon, Simon Leon, Leon Salomon, Leon Salvador, Salvador Leon
Orion Ydris - I like this one (also Orion Idris)
Imanuel Sören - I like this too, although if I had to use it myself I would switch it around (and Anglicize Sören) to make it Soren Imanuel
Emrys Roland - I like this one, probably my favorite of them all
Stellan Percy - It's fine, not amazing but definitely not bad. I'd expand Percy into Percival, Perseus, or something. Maybe even Parsifal. And if I had to name a baby based on this I'd change Stellan to Sylvan, but Stellan isn't bad at all.
Amaryllis Ingrid - I like Amaryllis, but don't think Ingrid goes with it.
Circe Leibel - Leibel is too much like the word label. I'd replace it with something like: Leilani, Lorelei, Leila, Leia, Lyra, Leida, Ligeia
