I like the Da-MARE-is pronunciation, which is the one used by the only Damaris I ever knew. The DAM-a-Riss is just not very attractive to me. Maybe because of the dam sound.

Doesn't daMAREis make it more equine than bovine?
That pronunciation just makes me think of demerits.
