I like the Da-MARE-is pronunciation, which is the one used by the only Damaris I ever knew. The DAM-a-Riss is just not very attractive to me. Maybe because of the dam sound.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!
