Here's another idea for you.Collect as many surnames from your father's family background and see if you can work it out that way.
Example: your father's surname is Henry, we assume HIS father's surname was Henry. What was his mother's surname? If it was Mulligan or O'Donoghue, you can assume that's where his Irish ancestry came from. If it was Featherstonehaugh or Grimwade, it's looking English, right? If it was Johansson or Ljungberg you're no wiser, so you'd better look at the grandparents. Have fun!
