I've really been liking Piper for a girl lately. Do you think it would be made fun of too frequently?

I really like the combo Piper Anne, but if you can think of any others let me know. Thanks :)

That name is starting to grow on me, I first heard it from watching the show "Charmed" and it gives a picture of a cool, independant girl. A nice combo is Piper Alexandra.

I agree...

There is something sort of intriguing about it and yet I still see the word pipe. Drain pipe, crack pipe... I really hate that these negative associations come to mind. Peter Piper... Also, the combo Piper Anne reminds me of someone who would look like Pepper Ann or Raggedy Ann.. A girl with red yarn for hair.

I love it. I can't use it because DH hates it, but I think it is really cute. Piper Anne is nice.

it was reminding me of something too and I couldn't put my finger on it. you're right - Pepper Ann.

that aside, I think Piper is very cute. I still think Piper Anne is a cute combo, but I don't really care for Anne.

Guilty pleasure

It has a similar feel as Avery and Harper for me, so it's on my list of "never use in a million years but have a soft spot for them anyway" names. :)

Wow, you hit the nail on the head for me. I'll add Quinn to that list. (But I happen to prefer Avery and Quinn on boys, though they don't gross me out seeing them on girls as much as, say, Tyler and Logan.)

I may be alone on this but...

I just dont see the attraction of Piper. I think of someone who smokes a pipe, or those pipe cleaners I think they are that are used in arts and crafts (fuzzy wire things that bend and whatnot).

However, I have always seen a good reaction to Piper on the boards, so I may be standing alone on this one, which is fine with me.

I think of the actress Piper Laurie, I think it's because of her the name is around. I don't mind it, though I wouldn't use it--too"lite".

I think of chimneys too, but dont have a clue why. Maybe I am unconsiously thinking of chimney pipes even though I am not sure I know what they are 100%

You're not alone. Piper sounds rather juvenile to me, and just has no appeal. And I do think she'd be teased.

I agree. I hate it.

Too me it just doesn't sound nice. It's sounds silly and juvenile. Maybe ok as a kids name, but it's not the kind of name I picture on an adult who is trying to hold a position of respect. Kind of fails the Judge, Doctor, Lawyer test, in other words.

I've also heard it's used as slang for someone who gives fellatio. :-/

I don't hate the name, really, but I do agree it sounds pretty silly on a grownup.

I think of the Pied Piper and the parade of mesmerized children being led into oblivion, too.

I do like this name. It's very cute. I've known of a couple Pipers and don't think they were teased. I just personally wouldn't use this name just because I'd probably start saying Pied Piper...(you know the classic story).
