If you will check on the linked nameOscaryou will see that most experts now believe that Oscar is primarily an Irish name from Gaelic words meaning "deer lover." So it is neither Anglo-Saxon nor Cornish, though it has been easy to confuse it with an Old English or Germanic name, Osgar.
