Wallander
What are peoples thoughts on Wallander as a first name?
I quite like "Anders" and thought this has a similar feel. Though I'm not sure what nicknames you would end up with - not so keen on "Wal".

If you don't like 'Wal' and love 'Anders' surely just use Anders...But if you only like Anders as a nickname sure I guess theres nothing wrong with Wallander other than youre definitely going to get Wally as a nickname.Other better options might be:Lysander
Ollivander
Evander
Leander
Anderson

It's a surname, and not suitable as a given name. And as a Swede, it doesn't give me the same vibe as Anders at all. What about Lars, Oskar, Gustav, Matthias?

It’s very surnamey and cumbersome, it hasn’t the same vibe as Anders besides being Swedish.

Just use Anders or Anderson and be done with it. Wallander sounds like somebody from Walland (wherever that might be) or who lands on walls.

I associate it only (and strongly) with the Wallander books and series, and I can't see it as a first name.
