[Opinions] Re: Sidony, Sidonie and Sidney
in reply to a message by Frollein Gladys
I like Sidonie. Sidony looks weird to me. I've seen them mentioned before, but never used. I feel like they're probably familiar enough where people wouldn't have a big issue, but they'd get confused with Sydney all the time, I bet. I like to think it wouldn't be confused with Sydney, but in all honesty, it probably would. Or it would if you live in an area where names are commonly trendy. If you live somewhere where more obscure or 'posh' are more popular, then I think Sidonie could be pronounced and spelled correctly on a more consistent basis. I really think that there'll always be a few people who get it wrong. Heck, I'm a Lucy and I've gotten called "Lizzie" before.
Sidony looks like SID-uh-nee, but I don't think that's how it should be pronounced, haha.
Sidonie I say as sih-DOH-nee but I can see going for see-doh-NEE, too (it's listed as French, so that's how I'd say it from a French angle)
I think Sidney is really handsome for a boy. Maybe it's just because I'm Canadian and a hockey fan, but Sidney is totally usable for a boy, in my opinion.
