Johanna was, I think, my grandmother's name. the "I think" is because she was always called Hannah. however, *she* always insisted it was johanna, and I suppose she'd know. (she was orphaned young.)

One of my great-great-grandmothers was a Johanna, if I recall correctly. She lived somewhere in northern Europe - Germany, Poland, former Czechoslovakia or Austria, but I can't remember which!

My Grandmother came from Cape Breton (Nova Scotia) (Canadian province,as I'm sure you know.) the family was one generation out from Scotland, She could speak Gaelic, even.
