I have in my family the surname Boby
I am back to the late 1500,s of my ancestors. and they were all in Suffolk England. I would like to know where the name Boby originated from. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jean.

According to Reaney and Wilson's surname dictionary Boby derives from the place name Boothby, of which there are three in Lincolnshire. "A farm or village with booths or shelters" says A.D.Mills in "A Dictionary of English Place-Names".
